A real person at Vietnam Streets reads every submission. We approve walks that fit the community, and reach out if anything's unclear.
The community joins
Approved walks go up on the Events page and out to our subscribers — so people actually show up, cameras in hand.
Who hosts, and why
Most of our walks have been started by one photographer who knew a neighbourhood and wanted company at six in the morning. You do not need a following, a brand, or a plan beyond a meeting point and a route you have walked yourself. Hosts have been visiting photographers in town for a week, students, people who shoot every Sunday and wanted to stop doing it alone.
What you get is a morning with people who care about the same thing, and a page on this site with your name on it. What the community gets is a reason to be on the street at the right hour with someone who knows where the light falls.
What a good walk looks like
- Early. The walks that work start between 5:30 and 7:00. By nine the light is flat and the streets are traffic.
- Short. Two to three kilometres, two to three hours, with a coffee at the end. People talk more over the coffee than on the walk.
- One neighbourhood. The Old Quarter, Chợ Lớn, the riverside in Huế. Not a city tour.
- Free, and small. Six to twelve people. Larger groups split; smaller ones stay close to the host.
- Any camera, any level. Phones are fine. The point is looking, not gear.

What we do for you
We read every proposal and reply within a few days. If it fits, your walk goes on the events page with its own listing, into Streets & Stories, which reaches our subscribers once a month, and onto Instagram the week before. On the morning, you run it; we are not there unless we are in town. Afterwards, send us a few frames from the group and we publish a short recap credited to everyone who shot.
What we say no to
Paid tours, workshops with a fee, walks built around a product, and anything that needs permits we cannot vouch for. Those belong on the experiences page, which is a different thing. We also pass on walks that photograph people as a destination: a "slum walk" is not a photo walk.
